Southern Fried Pork Chops

porkfry 400x266 Southern Fried Pork Chops

This is a delicious southern comfort food. Fried pork chops were a staple in my family when I was growing up, and continue to be a part of our regular family meals now. I like to use bone in chops for more flavor, but you can use boneless pork chops also. I use my southern spice blend for this recipe, you could also use another Cajun seasoning. I like to make my own seasoning salt recipe, so that I can control the amount and type of salt that goes into it.  Serve this along side mashed potatoes and gravy with steamed or roasted potatoes.

Ingredients

  • 4 bone in pork chops
  • 2 tablespoons southern spice blend
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Method

  1. Preheat oil for frying. Prepare the pork chops. Beat the eggs in a bowl and add a tablespoon of the seasoning to the eggs and mix thoroughly. Pour the eggs over the pork in a bowl, and let this set, covered on the kitchen counter for about 15 minutes.
  2. Mix the flour and the other tablespoon of seasoning together. Dread the pork in the flour and fry at 350 degrees over medium heat until the pork chops are golden brown.
  3. Drain the pork chops on paper towels or a clean kitchen towel.

Have never used the eggs before. Usually I just dredge in flour. Will have to try. I’ll have to use just salt and pepper though. My husband doesn’t like spicy food, and I’m not sure if the spice blend would be good in white milk gravy.

I always have a hard time frying porkchops! Its always still too pink on some parts. Especially near the bone. I cook it on med high and for a while (like 20 mins!) I end up baking them in the oven to finish..I cook mine the same way also. Seasoned eggs and flour. :(

      @”maeh e nang”,
I’m sorry! are you letting the chops come to room temp before frying. Also I fry with my stovetop at medium. All meats I use medium, and potatoes high. And there is a certain sound they make when they are done, the sizzle is alot less.

I miss eating pork chops. Mom doesn’t like them so we stop buying pork chops. But I want to try that with your southern spice blend. We normally marinate it with garlic and soy sauce.
